About our cause
2nd Cleveleys Scout Group provides a much loved and valued service for the community.
Our scouting group has over 100 years of scouting experience and is based at St Andrew's Church, Cleveleys. We have approximately 60 young people involved with the Group ranging from Squirrels (aged 4 - 6 years old), Beaver Scouts (aged 6 - 8 years old), Cub Scouts (aged 8 - 10 1/2 years old) and Scouts (aged 10 1/2 to 14). Squirrels and Beaver Sections meet on a Monday night and Cubs and Scouts on a Friday night during Term Time in St Andrew's Church Hall, Cleveleys.
The experiences our young people have as a Scout is likely to stay with them for the rest of their lives. At 2nd Cleveleys we aim to encompass the many ways that scouting challenges and stretches the lives of young people. To a Squirrel being on their first activity day, to a Beaver Scout, waking up the morning after his or her first 'sleep over' away from home is as challenging as the Scouts first abseil down a real rock face!
As a Scouting Group, we encourage all our Scouts to be involved in the various events on offer which could take place weekly on Section Nights, on special visits at weekends or during the holidays and on Camps - either as a Section, a Group or attending District Camps. We want all our young people to have the opportunity to experience the many varied activities on offer such as archery, air rifle shooting, abseiling, raft building and canoing to name but a few. As a Group we contribute to all these activities but we want to do more!
In addition we have our own external storage building which has recently had some long needed repairs with a new roof but we still need more secure doors, internal racking to ensure our camping equipment is dry and replacement equipment from what was damaged due to the leaking roof. Funding for this would be extremely welcomed - and your support would be greatly appreciated.
We need your help not only so we can carry out these final building repairs but to purchase the equipment to ensure ALL our members can get involved in Scouting and the various activities and events on offer!
Thank you for your support and good luck!
Yours sincerely,
Carley (Squirrel Scout Section Team Leader)
Harry (Beaver Scout Section Leader)
Maureen (Cub Scout Section Leader)
